Born in 1952 in Quetta, Pakistan, Dodi Tabbaa earned an Honors BFA in Fine Arts and Graphic Design in Lahore, Pakistan, and a postgraduate diploma in printmaking, textile design, and typography in the United Kingdom.

From 1977 to 1979, Tabbaa worked as a graphic designer, then transitioning to work as an art and media consultant for UNESCO in Damascus, Syria, from 1980 to 1981.  Starting in 1982, she began to gain curatorial experience in Finland, and from 1982 to 1984 she was manager of the Alia Art Gallery in Amman.

Tabbaa has shown her work in group exhibitions in a number  of countries, including with "A Dialogue in Expression" at the  Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts in Amman, the  Sixth Asian Biennale in Dhaka, Bangladesh, the  Museum of Contemporary Art in Tehran, Iran, and  the 2001 Sharjah Biennale in Sharjah, U.A.E.
