Mai Baitamouni is a Jordanian fashion designer . She was born in Amman . After finishing her high school , she decided to follow her passion. Encouraged by her late mom, she moved to Beirut to pursue her education in fine arts & Fashion design. After living in her second home city -Beirut- for five years, She came back to Amman & opened her first atelier at the age of 23. She designed her first complete collection the same year & displayed it in a big fashion show which was attended by VIPs & fashionastas in Amman. She continued to design two collections yearly till now . Mai has put Amman on the fashion map in the Arab world; especially that she has represented her country many times in several fashion events in various Arabic cities. She was the first middle eastern designer who recognized Shmagh as a wearable fabric not only a headdress for men) . She used the red Shmagh as the main fabric in a collection which was appreciated by many especailly in Jordan & in the gulf area. The collection was not a traditional one, it was modern with traditional twist ( please check link ) . Al-Urdun dress was her gift to her country; she designed this dress using golden silk to represent the desert sand , the skirt was painted with al Maha ghazel , the treasure in Petra & Wadi Rum. This dress was displayed in a special event in Beirut & Mai was honored with a trophy from the Lebanese designers association. Her exquisite & feminine style has enabled her to be distinguished. She is known for the - Grand Entrance- dresses. She designs for the confident woman, who likes to reveal her sex appeal in a classy way . She likes to use soft fabrics like silk, chiffon , satin, cashmere & lace . Vibrant colors are always there in every & each collection . Nature is her source of inspiration & she always sees it colorful, vibrant & happy .
