Mohamad Al Ameri is a Jordanian artist and poet.  Currently Director of the arts department of Jordan's Ministry of Culture as well as Chief Editor of its "Al Funun" magazine, he has in the past been Head of the Jordanian Plastic Arts Association. A practicing artist since 1983, Al Ameri has held fifteen solo exhibitions both in Jordan (at Orfali Gallery, Orient Gallery, Hammurabi Gallery, and the Royal Cultural Center, among other venues) and abroad (at the House of Literature in Munich, and Four Walls Gallery and ArtSpace Gallery in Dubai).  His work has been part of group exhibitions in countries around the world, including China, the United States, Greece, Sweden, Morocco, Algeria, Lebanon, Germany, Syria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, and Saudi Arabia.  The artist has also participated in international biennales in Cairo, Sharjah, Tehran, and Dhaka, and has shown his work at the Cairo Triennale and Alexandria Biennale for Graphic Arts.  Also an art juror and critic, he was part of an international art jury in Bahrain, Oman and Jordan, and served as critic at the Sharjah Biennale, the Al-Mahabba Biennale in Syria, and art events in Sudan, Bahrain and Germany.   Al Ameri is the winner of several awards in the fields of art and literature, including the Jordanian Writers Association's Best Collection of Arabic Poems (1994), Third Prize at the Homage to Lorca Competition by Instituto Cervantes in Amman (1998), and First Prize at the Tehran Biennale in 2006.  Al Ameri’s artworks were featured in Christies’ International Auction in Dubai in 2007 and won the prize at the Khorafi Biennale in Kuwait in 2008.  The artist, who lives and works in Amman, is also a member of the Jordanian Art Critics Association, the Jordanian Writers Association, and the Arab Writers Union.
