Mohammed Al Jaloos was born in Amman in 1960.  He studied painting for two years at the Jordan Institute of Fine Arts while completing his BA in Business Administration at the University of Jordan (1981), and began mounting solo shows right after graduation.  The artist has exhibited his works worldwide; among his no less than thirty solo exhibitions, notable venues include the French Cultural Center in Amman, the Musee Des Metiers De Mercure in Rochefort, France, the Ashtar Art Gallery in Damascus, Syria, the National Council for Culture, Arts, & Letters in Kuwait, and the Oman Society for Fine Arts in Salala, Oman.  After living in New York City for a year (1994-95), the artist developed a special interest in mural art.  When he returned to Jordan, he painted the largest outdoor mural for the Amman Municipality on the occasion of Amman's being named Capital of Arab Culture in 2001, and has since completed murals in the city of Aqaba, on the campus of Philadelphia University, and in Amman's Jerusalem Hotel. Al Jaloos was featured in a 2000 television film about art and artists' lives entitled Haolaa Al Akharoun, directed by fellow Jordanian Sawsan Darwaza.  He was President of the Jordanian Plastic Artists Association from 2003-04, and is a also member of the Jordanian Writers Association.  His publications include Biyoot Min Al Salt (1997), Water Color Paintings (1997), Faces From Within (2002), Arabia Ya Biyoot El Quds (2003), Water Color Paintings (2003), culminating most recently in a retrospective work entitled Thirty Years In Painting (2010).  Creative in multiple arenas, Al Jaloos is also the author of a collection of short stories entitled Memory of a Side Street (1984). A critic as well as an artist, he has contributed many articles in the field of art criticism and art journalism.  He has been a member of the Babel Art Association of Arab French Artists and the International Association of Plastic Arts (IAP), both based in Paris, since 1992.
