Mohammed Al Samhouri
Born in Amman in 1969, Mohammed Al Samhouri is a noted Palestinian artist who has participated in exhibitions throughout the Arab world. His paintings, with their vibrant colors and naïve style, are a satirical reflection on iconic symbols and images from daily life in the Arab world, such as the band of musicians, the violinist, the belly dancer, and the city skyline.
While the influence of Picasso’s school is unmistakable in many of his works, his subjects, techniques and palette are by no means restricted to this style of painting as the artist seems to have developed his own distinct style.
Not overly influenced by academic techniques, Al Samhouri has managed to liberate his spirit, creating paintings that mix the raw emotions of a child with intellectual sophistication.
